Sunday afternoon was the first Service at AVA since we have arrived. There was a guest speaker who brought a message that was undoubtedly God-breathed. His family led praise and worship and he preached the Word as if the Word were there whispering in his ear what to say. No doubt this man walks with God. I remember being here a few months ago and meeting a man who attended the Service who has been seeking Truth. Truth came closer to this man than it ever has in the past. The man is but an arm’s length away – all he has to do now is grasp it. After the Service, there is a tradition where all of the leaders go to Pizza Hut. It is quite nice and gives us a little piece of home every week. However, this Pizza Hut would put the ones back home to absolute shame. It is quite nice. On our way home, we met him. Literally! Rubber to bumper. We pull over and this guy went absolutely psycho. Wilson and I got out of the van to direct the attention away from the ladies. We began to try reasoning with the man, but with no measurable success. You could smell the alcohol on his breath as he belched out all of our inequities. Of course, the wreck was his fault. A plastered, drunk man flying down the Road, ramming in the back of a van full of foreigners? His fault. After Wilson and I tried the negotiation process, we left the man with two options. Take this money to fix your bike or we are leaving. We left and he followed us swerving in and out and slamming on brakes in front of us. The man lost his chance to take the money – he never expected us to walk away. But, we handed him a 50- he handed it back, he wanted 40 and knew I didn’t have exact change. We weaved around cars and took a quick turn down our road headed for the Campus Gate. Safe. The Two Wheel Psycho was no match for God’s protective hand. “For He will send His angels concerning you, to guard you in all of your ways”, Psalms 91:11.
Glad you guys arrived safely. Sounds both exciting and terrifying at the same time! Will keep you in my prayers and look forward to future updates.
