You know if there is one thing you learn in the absence of something, it is how much it means to you. I had a buddy from High School that I used to hang out with all the time. We have been through a lot of things together, had a lot of good times, but somewhere in the midst of it all we just lost contact. That contact was reestablished last night after a very interesting conversation over the high speed 2G/1G connection I was working with. Literally, he would send a message I would get it and then the next message wouldn't come until after the third message had already arrived... Needless to say, the conversation was broken. I thought about that for a few minutes though. It meant a lot to me to be able to hear from this guy - despite how broken the conversation was. Then I realized, our conversations with God can get pretty broken up sometimes. We hear His Word, but never speak. We speak, but never hear His Word. Sometimes, we loose contact altogether. He mentioned the fact that he needed to reignite his relationship with God - I imagine in his lost contact with God, he realized how much He means to him. It is amazing how God can show up in the smallest ways. But even in its smallness, it is mind blowing!
Pray for this guy... that God would show up in his life, like He has showed up for us in so many ways!
Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.
Proverbs 3:5-6 NLT
P.S. "The Beaver" story is an inside thing, but not to keep people on the inside I will share the story with you as it is pretty funny!
My friends family had somewhat of a pest problem going on in their back yard pond. This wasn't your normal back yard though. We are talking multi-million dollar neighborhood in a prestigious nook of the lake. Being the "redneck" I was in high school, his parents asked if I could come and remove their "little friend" from eating the koi fish out of the pond. I accepted, and loaded up the high-powered .270 rifle and suited up. I set up my sniper's nest on the roof of this mansion nestled on a private peninsula, and waited. 2 a.m. rolled along and I see this big black shadow swimming around the pond. There he was, the biggest monster of a beaver I had ever seen in my life. I imagine the 1000 plus dollar sushi he had been consuming helped to plump him up. Suprisingly to find out though, after consuming about $1000 worth of koi, you become invinsible. BANG! ??? BANG! ????? BANG! ??????? What?! Did I just unload my entire clip of .270 bullets, and this thing has the audacity to walk away? Oh heck no! BANG! "That's right you better start running". We followed the blood trail to the edge of the lake. No Beaver. I told him I know I hit that thing smack in the chest 3 times. He disagreed and I was left bummed... The next morning, we got a call from the neighbor. "So I guess this is what got shot up last night"! Good times.....
